    About

    Alexander Tawiah

Alexander Tawiah is the founder and director of InteractiveMediaSkills.com. He is a graduate of the Master of Arts in Mass Communication program at Texas State University, where he served as a Instructor of Record in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He also represented the College of Fine Arts and Communication as its graduate student representative. Upon graduation in 2025, he was recognized as the Top Graduate Student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

His media and information technology skills made Star Ghana Limited and Angel Broadcasting Network, the leading media firms in Ghana to employ him as an intern concurrently. After the successful completion of his undergraduate studies, KNUST retained him to serve in the University’s Information Technology Service Unit as an IT assistant where he supported the university community with various ICT-related issues.

He holds professional certifications in IT support from Google and digital media skills from Meta, as well as advanced training from top universities such as the University of Pennsylvania, University of Colorado Boulder and University of California, Davis via practical online digital media training modules.

He has trained over 100 undergraduate students at KNUST in digital media skills, including video editing, camera handling, photography, website management and design. During his graduate studies at Texas State, Alexander served as a Graduate Assistant, assisting professors and leading lab sessions in video editing, video production, and broadcasting. In Spring 2025, he independently taught MC 3311: Video Production as the Instructor of Record, where he guided students through the full production process—from pre-production to post-production—while also supervising their broadcast news projects.

As the Graduate College Representative for College of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State, he represented the College in student government, from the graduate education perspective. One element of that representation includes acting as a two-way conduit of information: bringing concerns from graduate students to the House, and bringing information from the House to graduate students. In general, he contributed in improving the graduate education context at Texas State; willing to discuss issues and solutions; and interested in representing colleagues in student government.

Alexander’s research interests are primarily centered on digital media, particularly the integration of interactive media skills—like web development, mobile app development, and other computer skills—into journalism, communication and media education. The rapid development of digital media technologies raises important questions about political communication, journalism and media education, and Alexander is interested in exploring these transformations and digital media effects on our social landscape.

Professionally, Alexander has a strong background in website design and management, blogging, video production, editing, social media management and monetization, broadcasting. He has created commercials and various video projects that highlight the stories of underserved groups.
